OUR STORY
Deep Pennsylvania Roots: The Foundation Behind GLS Injury Law
Anthony (Tony) Georgelis and his family moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1974, when he was four years old. As he progressed through Hempfield School District, Tony always knew that he was best suited for a career in the law. He graduated from Hempfield High School in 1988 and the University of Richmond in 1992, after which he headed to the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. At the same time, Tanya Jones was growing up in Girardville, in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Cardinal Brennan High School in 1989. Tanya then studied at Albright College, in Reading, Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in Finance in 1993.
Education, Early Careers, and a Shared Path Forward
After obtaining his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1995, Tony returned to his native Lancaster County to serve his community in the District Attorney’s Office. As Director of the Child Abuse Prosecution Unit, Tony and the cadre dedicated to these investigations handled all cases involving the physical or sexual abuse of a child. It was during his tenure in the DA’s office that Tony met Tanya, who was a portfolio manager in Fulton Bank’s Trust Department at the time. Once they realized they shared the same birthday (although Tanya is a year younger, as she likes to point out), they knew they were destined be together and married after a year of dating.
A Foundation in Service and Advocacy in Central Pennsylvania
Starting in 2000, ready for the next stage of his career in the law, Tony was recruited by a law firm in York. Having tried over 25 cases before judges and juries while making Lancaster County a safer place, becoming a trial attorney in the realm of injury and accident law was a natural and logical step to take in his legal career. At the York law firm, he had the good fortune to study under and learn from Attorney Elliott Katherman, one of the best in the business. Over the next 5 years, Tony parlayed the litigation skills he mastered as a prosecutor into fervently representing accident victims and those hurt on the job.
A Vision for a Different Kind of Law Firm
By 2005, Tony had convinced the law firm he was with to open a Lancaster branch to better serve the community he had called “home” for over 35 years. Even though he headed up the Lancaster office, there was still something missing. Tony had his own vision of what would make the best personal injury and workers’ compensation law firm in Central Pennsylvania—a vision he could not implement as part of the status quo. While Tony was grateful for the opportunity he had been given with the York firm, in his heart, he knew he could best serve the people of York, Lancaster and beyond by creating his own legal institution, from the ground up; a law firm that was built upon a foundation of highly skilled attorneys and paralegals, who also share the ideals, values, principles, and compassion that is unique to the wonderful people of Central Pennsylvania.
The Georgelis Family Launches Their Own Law Firm
So, in early 2005, Tony approached Tanya with the idea of starting their own injury and accident law firm. With Tanya’s expertise in numbers and the business side of things, and Tony’s 10 years of experience advocating for those hurt by others, he knew that they could realize this vision. At the time, the market for personal injury firms was already saturated—believe it or not, only a fraction of what it is now—but that did not deter Tony and Tanya. Despite the tremendous financial sacrifice and the risks posed by leaving the security of his position with the York firm, Tony and Tanya opened Georgelis Law Firm, P.C. on April 25, 2005.
Early Challenges and Building a Values-Driven Team
The early years were tough—not just from the standpoint of nursing a new business through its infancy and trying to support and raise a young family but also shuffling through several lawyers and staff members who did not share Tony and Tanya’s core values and principles. The people who work at a law firm are the law firm. In other words, it was not easy finding individuals who will treat and represent the law firm as their own and embrace the firm’s clients as their own family; and this process was often accomplished through somewhat painful trial and error.
Growth, Key Team Members, and Strengthening the Firm
As the firm gained its footing and reached the decade-mark, however, the vision Tony and Tanya set out to create was materializing. Helen Shaubach and Robbin Hessinger, two of the best paralegals around, joined Georgelis Law Firm and provided a valuable backbone of support for the firm’s growing footprint. Soon thereafter, TJ Sabatino and Chris Larsen, elite litigators from Delaware and Lancaster Counties, respectively, came aboard. Next, Kari Gehman, a top-notch and well-credentialed office manager, became a part of Georgelis Law Firm. And finally, Heather Warner, former FOX43 news anchor and marketing expert, and Steve Poole, a master of search engine optimization, joined the firm as Director of Marketing and SEO Specialist, respectively. This was the constitution of skill, experience, strength, integrity, compassion, and success that Tony and Tanya envisioned when they created Georgelis Law Firm…

The Evolution into GLS Injury Law
Now, after 21 years of existence, the firm is known as GLS INJURY LAW (Georgelis, Larsen, Sabatino) and has become a legal powerhouse among Central Pennsylvania’s personal injury and workers’ compensation firms. TJ and Chris have joined Tony as equity partners, with all three having an ownership interest in the practice, and GLS Injury Law has physical (not virtual) office locations in East Hempfield, Lancaster City, York, and West Chester. GLS Injury Law has helped thousands of people fight big insurance companies and recover the maximum compensation they and their families deserve. Tony, TJ, and Chris have been consistently voted Lancaster’s “Best Injury and Accident Lawyers” by multiple publications, and they are members of the most prestigious and elite trial lawyers’ associations in the United States.
A Legacy Built on Client Trust and Results
Tony and Tanya look back on the last two decades with tremendous pride and comfort. They know that each and every high, low, and in-between accompanying their journey has been an integral part of the growth and development of the firm and forged GLS into the legal force it is today. However, it is not the awards, accolades, or personal achievements that mean the most to them. They are most proud of the firm’s 300 Google Reviews with a 5-star average rating—because what drives them and the team at GLS is, and always will be, the impact they have made on their clients’ lives.
An Ongoing Commitment to Pennsylvania Clients
Today, just as every day for the past 21 years and counting, Tony and Tanya’s message and promise to the people of Central Pennsylvania is the same: no one will take care of you like we do at GLS.
