Lancaster County, PA — Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle crash on Monday, March 16, around 12:40 p.m. along the 2000 block of Route 72 (Lebanon Road) near Pinch Road. The collision resulted in two individuals being injured and temporarily shut down a heavily traveled roadway for several hours.
Crash Details and Emergency Response
According to reports, both drivers became trapped inside their vehicles following the crash, requiring specialized rescue operations. First responders worked quickly to extricate the occupants using hydraulic tools and other life-saving equipment.
A Penn Medicine physician-response unit (Penn Medicine 1) was dispatched to the scene. These units are equipped to deliver advanced pre-hospital emergency care, often improving outcomes in serious motor vehicle accidents.
After being freed, both individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been publicly disclosed.
Scene Investigation and Road Closures
Due to the severity of the incident, the Lancaster County Joint Crash Team was called in to conduct a detailed investigation. These teams typically reconstruct accident scenes to determine fault, contributing factors, and sequence of events.
As a result of the crash, Route 72 was closed between Pinch Road and East Mount Hope Road for several hours. Emergency personnel remained on-site until at least 3:15 p.m. while clearing debris and documenting the scene.
