May 4, 2026 | Accident Reports

A pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday night and airlifted to a hospital after suffering a traumatic leg amputation during a multi-vehicle crash in Chambersburg, according to police.

The crash occurred around 8:51 p.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Catherine Street.

Authorities say a minivan traveling south on South Main Street failed to stop at a red light, striking another vehicle in the intersection. The minivan then continued forward and hit a pedestrian who was attempting to enter a parked vehicle.

First responders arriving on scene found the victim trapped with a severe leg injury resulting in amputation. Fire crews were able to extricate the individual within approximately six minutes.

The pedestrian was transported by helicopter to a Chambersburg-area hospital for advanced medical care. Officials have not released an update on the victim’s condition.

We extend our thoughts to the individual injured in this serious incident and hope for their recovery.
