One Person Hospitalized Following Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 83 in York County
One person was injured Tuesday morning following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 in Shrewsbury Township, York County, according to the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company.
The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Exit 4 (Shrewsbury/Route 851), prompting an emergency response and causing significant delays for the morning commute.
Crash Details
Emergency crews responded to reports of a collision involving three vehicles, including:
- A blue sedan that sustained extensive rear-end damage
- A red sedan
- An SUV
Photos released by the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company show the blue sedan with severe damage after the crash.
One person was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not released information regarding the individual’s condition.
Traffic Delays on I-83
The crash temporarily closed the southbound Exit 4 on-ramp and blocked multiple travel lanes on Interstate 83.
Traffic was reduced to a single lane while first responders assisted those involved, investigated the scene, and removed the damaged vehicles. The congestion caused significant delays for morning commuters traveling through southern York County.
All lanes have since reopened, and normal traffic flow has resumed.
Investigation Ongoing
The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
At this time, authorities have not released information regarding:
