Top 3 Workers’ Compensation Questions: Insights from a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer

Home » Blog » Top 3 Workers’ Compensation Questions: Insights from a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer

If you were hurt on the job, you may have a lot of questions. You’re not alone. Our experienced workers’ compensation lawyers work with people every day who are injured on the job.

One of GLS Injury Law’s top workers’ compensation attorneys, TJ Sabatino, Esquire, took time to share the top three most common questions that he hears from clients who have sustained a work injury:

Q& A with Workers’ Compensation Lawyer, TJ Sabatino

1. What will my workers’ compensation claim cover?

In Pennsylvania, if you are injured on the job, generally, your Employer, either directly or through their workers’ compensation insurance carrier, will be responsible for payment of related medical expenses and wage loss. There are other benefits available depending on the nature of your claim such as specific loss benefits, scarring or disfigurement benefits, or death benefits. In some cases, transportation, durable medical equipment and even alterations to your home may be covered.

2. What do I need to do to file a workers’ compensation claim?

If you have been injured at work, you must first notify your supervisor or employer of the incident — insist on filling out an accident report if one is not offered. You want to make sure there’s no delay in receiving benefits, which can happen if you wait too long to make a report. Second, call a workers’ compensation lawyer for a consultation. You want to be sure you have an experienced lawyer working with you and advocating for the compensation you’re entitled to. Many times, employers or their insurance carriers will look for ways to reduce the compensation for workers’ compensation victims or even may try to deny your claim. At GLS Injury Law, we are experienced at dealing with employers and insurance carriers and know how to get results for our clients in Lancaster county and surrounding areas.

3. How much is my workers’ compensation claim worth?

The value of your claim depends on many factors. These include the nature of your injury, your wage rate (average weekly wage), the type of treatment that you have received or still need, and the potential length of your disability. Insurance companies are notorious for offering money to unrepresented injured workers with the intention of resolving their claims for much less than they are worth. Before you agree to resolve your claim you should speak with an attorney to, at the very least, ensure that you are not being taken advantage of. At GLS Injury Law, we will work tirelessly to get you every penny you are entitled to.
